To check that you are getting a signal from your HDMI device simply plug it into a Windows based USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, open the Camera App, and click on the icon on the top right and corner, shown below - choosing USB 3.0 capture or similar.

This USB 2.0 capture card can capture HDMI video and HDMI audio at the same
time, and can transmit audio and video signals to a computer or smart phone for
preview and storage. Suitable for high-definition acquisition, teaching
records, medical imaging, etc.
Connection Operation:
- Connect HDMI cable into the port on the capture device usinga a HDMI cable (max. length 15m).
- Insert the USB male connector of the USB capture card into the USB port of the computer
- Open the OBS software → add a new source → select ‘video capture device’ → set the screen size → select ‘studio mode’ (dual windows) → click ‘start recording’
